Connection

with nature

Concern about climate change, ecological anxiety, ecological pain and solastalgia are issues that have come to the attention of clinicians in recent years. Indeed, the complex and worsening environmental problems affecting the entire planet have become a source of psychological distress in many individuals. Studies conducted on the subject so far are fragmentary and start from different theoretical perspectives. This project investigates how these transformations of the earth and nature are giving rise to these new psychopathological phenomena and a new declination of psychological suffering.

This project aims to increase scientific knowledge of this new phenomenon called "ecopsychopathology." To this end, we will (1) investigate the relationship between emotion regulation, personality, metacognitive functioning and ecopsychopathology (2) validate instruments designed to detect this condition.

The HUB enables the collection and sharing of study results and lab innovations within the 4 pillars of sustainability: human, environmental, social and economic. In fact, Sustainability arises when human, social, environmental and economic needs can be met simultaneously without neglecting the others, in a mutual synchrony.

HESES

 HUB on Sustainability

Specifically, human sustainability concerns the care and development of the human component of an organization and society at large. Environmental sustainability, on the other hand, focuses on preserving the environment and using resources more rationally, taking into consideration long-term effects, enabling economic growth and reducing/eliminating damage to the natural environment. Social sustainability, on the other hand, focuses on inclusiveness, equality, and improving social relations, aiming to ensure the well-being, cohesion of members of a group and society at large. Finally, economic sustainability is about a circular rather than linear model of economy, less focused on immediate profit, but with a long-term view of resources (human, material and environmental).
